Houses in Cyprus
There's no shortage of all types of houses in Cyprus, both traditional village houses and more modern townhouses and bungalows which are available across Cyprus.
Rural properties inland are increasingly popular with buyers who may be interested in renovation or if they're lucky, they may find a beautiful traditional house that's already been modernised. Some of the larger rural properties in Cyprus are often on a reasonably large plot of land and may have fruit trees or olive groves.
Prices for village house are definitely lower, although you may need to spend more money on renovating the property. For example, for around €50,000 you can buy a traditional two-storey stone house, high in the hills above Paphos, in a beautiful village setting with amazing views of the countryside.
A modernised village property in Cyprus will usually cost considerably more, depending on the extent of the renovation and the size of the house.
If you don't fancy all that renovating and maintenance, why not go for a new-build townhouse or bungalow? Townhouses in Cyprus are usually part of a development and are set around communal gardens with a swimming pool and often other facilities too, such as a club house and tennis courts. The houses are usually spacious and have three or four floors, often including a basement for a garage and storage facilities and a small, easily maintained garden or patio area.
The quality of construction is generally excellent and townhouses in Cyprus are popular as they're less expensive than villas but have more space than apartments. Bungalows are on just one level and perfect as retirement homes as there are no stairs to climb.
