Perhaps because of its rich and varied history, Cyprus stands apart from other popular holiday and retirement locations.

This beautiful island is politically part of Europe (the Republic of Cyprus joined the European Union in May 2004) but geographically it’s nearer to the Middle East, strategically positioned in the Eastern Mediterranean between the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa.

So on Cyprus you can enjoy all the benefits of an exotic Mediterranean location and yet still feel very much at home.

Although the Republic of Cyprus is predominantly Greek, due to more than 1500 years of Greek influence on the island, it also has a familiar, comfortable feel. You can relax in Cyprus ¬ thanks partly to that famous warm welcome that you’ll receive from Cypriots, but also because Cyprus was administered by the British until 1960.

English is spoken by around 90 per cent of Greek Cypriots so you won’t experience any language difficulties when you visit the island. Professionals such as lawyers, banking staff and estate agents speak English fluently.
