Lemesos, Cyprus
August is a fantastic month to visit Cyprus because it’s the time whenmany of the traditional villages have their summer celebrations. August15th is also the month Cypriots celebrate the Assumption of the VirginMary, so the day is a public holiday in Cyprus.
If you’d like to visit a Cypriot village and join in with the live music, traditional dancing and the customary eating and drinking, why not find out where the nearest one is? Dates vary throughout August; in some villages the party continues for the whole month or just the second half of the month, for others it’s just a few days. Vouni village, just 20 minutes north of Limassol, is a good example of a beautiful unspoiled village which celebrates its history and culture with dancing, eating and merrymaking. Why not go and sample some local delicacies and have some fun?
Dates for the Vouni celebrations and others across the island are available from the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO). Check out their website on www.visitcyprus.com.

In an earlier newsletter, we told you about the improvements to bothLarnaca and Paphos International Airports. Recently an airport busshuttle service has also been introduced, making getting to and fromthe airport even easier.
The expansion work at Paphos International Airport in the west of the island is currently approaching completion. All new facilities will then be tested and will be open for business by November of this year. Paphos airport will have a new terminal with 24 check-in desks and increased car park space.
Larnaca International Airport is situated around 5km south of the city. It's currently undergoing major expansion works to deal with the enormous growth in passenger numbers over the last few years. The airport will have a new terminal - the old terminal will be used as a cargo facility - and the runway will be extended. There is already a new air traffic control tower, a new fire station, a runway extension and improvements to the road infrastructure serving the airport.
